Japan-Chechnya Relations

Summary of Japan-Chechnya Relations

Tokyo seems to have kept its distance from the conflict in Chechnya. When the local regime established itself as the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria following the First Chechen War of 1994-1996, Tokyo did not grant recognition. Tokyo also took a low-key approach to the Russian reconquest of Chechnya in 1999-2000.

Economic and Trade Relations

Economic relations between Japan and Chechnya appear to be minimal as of 2005.
