Fahoum

Keely Fahoum was born
in Missoula, Montana, on October 29, 1975. She
grew up in Montana and attended the University
of Montana-Missoula where she earned a Bachelor
of Arts with Honors in English-Creative Writing
and minors in Japanese, Asian Studies, and History.
In 1996, she spent some time at Toyo University
in Tokyo on a scholarship for Japanese language
studies. After graduating from the University
of Montana, she entered the United States Air
Force’s Officer Training School in Montgomery,
Alabama, where she received her commission as
a Second Lieutenant. She served tours in Texas,
Okinawa, Georgia, California, and Maryland.
In
2006, she earned a Master of Science degree
with High Honors from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University specializing in Commercial Aviation
Safety and wrote her thesis on the use of mandatory
child restraint systems for children under the
age of two on commercial and military aircraft.
In 2007, she earned a Master of Arts degree
with Distinction from the Naval Postgraduate
School (NPS) in National Security Affairs specializing
in Middle East Studies, and completed the Arabic
Language Program at the Defense Language Institute
in Monterey, California. Ms. Fahoum was awarded
the Top Air Force Graduate Award in her program
of study for the NPS class graduating in December
2007.
Ms.
Fahoum is currently living in Arlington, Virginia,
where she is continuing her research in Middle
East Studies and pursuing opportunities to apply
for a PhD program or research grant in the future.
