SECOND ISSUE OF GULF-ASIA RESEARCH BULLETIN IS RELEASED
In
Shingetsu Newsletter No. 538
in March, we introduced the activities of our “sister organization”
in Dubai called the Gulf Research Center. Today I was contacted
by the editor of the Gulf-Asia Research Bulletin, Mr.
N. Janardhan, who informed me and the other contributors that
the second issue was now available online. Of direct interest
to our purposes are the following articles:
N. Janardhan
“Time to Convert East-East Opportunity into Strategy”
Pages 4-9
Michael Penn
“Tokyo’s Energy Strategy in the Gulf Region after Azadegan”
Pages 19-21
Akiko Yoshioka
“Japan’s Foreign Policy toward Iraq after 2003: Perceptions in Iraq and the Arab World”
Pages 22-24
Mohammad Al-Sayed Selim
“Fifth Round of Japan-Muslim World Dialogue among Civilizations: A Report”
Pages 33-35
Taro Aso
“Middle East Policy as I See It”
Pages 36-42

In addition to what you will find there, Dr. Janardhan has informed us that this journal will now be issued tri-annually rather than quarterly. Hardcopies of Issue Two will be available in August to those who contact them. Also, it appears that Janardhan himself will soon be taking a position with the UAE federal government and Samir Pradhan, an economist specializing on Gulf-Asia relations, will take over as editor.
On a final note, it sounds like they are looking for more contributors for future issues of the Gulf-Asia Research Bulletin. If a qualified Shingetsu member is interested in being a contributor, let me know and I’ll make the necessary introductions.
