JAPANESE
STUDIES ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA CONFERENCE
The
Japanese Studies Association of Australia will be holding their
annual conference in Adelaide from July 3rd to July 6th.
At
the conference, there will be five papers delivered that are
relevant to the purposes of the Shingetsu Institute. They are
as follows:
James Llewelyn
“Japan’s Diplomatic Response to the Indonesia-Malaysia
Confrontation”
Brad
Williams (National University of Singapore)
“Japan’s Response to the Asian Tsunami Crisis: Beyond
‘Competitive Compassion”
Gen
Kikkawa (Kobe University)
“Japan and East Timor”
Raquel
Shaoul (University of Haifa)
“An Evaluation of Policy Change with Reference to Japan’s
Military Performance in the Persian Gulf”
Siew
Mun Tang (National University of Malaysia)
“Japanese Studies in Malaysia”
Of these five presenters, only one, Raquel Shaoul, is currently
a Shingetsu Member. If any other members should be attending
this conference, I hope that they might give us a report on
the contents of these presentations and perhaps introduce some
of these presenters to our project.
